The evolution of G-SHOCK since the launch of the first DW-5000 is a story of ever-evolving functionality, performance and materials – always staying true to the beloved design of the original model. The limited-edition G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary Carbon Edition takes on this quest, using three different carbon materials for the bezel, bracelet and unibody case.

The bezel and bracelet are made from forged carbon, which can be molded into complex shapes. The folding arm of the clasp is made from multi-layer carbon, which guarantees a high degree of longitudinal resistance when folding. The carbon monobloc case is made from resin reinforced with carbon fiber. Enormous attention is paid to the specific characteristics of each material produced with a particular technique. The right material is selected for each component, taking advantage of the lightness and high rigidity of carbon to create a resistant, light and comfortable watch.

Inspired by the unique textured look of the forged carbon used for the bezel and bracelet, the color schemes nod to the magnificent ribbon of hazy light of the Milky Way. Two color options are available: the GCW-B5000UN-1 is coated in a black and gray mix pattern, while the GCW-B5000UN-6 combines black carbon fiber with blue and pink resin and opaline splashes, for a mysterious look.

Due to the characteristics of forged carbon, which is a mixture of carbon fiber and resin, the pattern, color tone and distribution of the opaline powder on the surface of each piece (bezel, bracelet and clasp) vary from model to model.
